Martin Piazzola

Principal

Marty Piazzola has over 30 years of property development and real estate experience. Mr. Piazzola served as the Senior Vice President of Avalon Bay Communities and has directed the company’s development activities in the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island since 2011. Most recently, Mr. Piazzola spearheaded the acquisition, design, and development of Avalon Amityville, a planned development of 338 apartments. He also led Avalon’s two most recent development opportunities in New York City, near Columbus Circle with 172 luxury condominium homes and 70,000 square feet of retail, and Avalon Brooklyn Bay in Sheepshead Bay with 180 apartment homes. 

Additionally, he has overseen the development of Avalon West Chelsea, a 710-unit on West 28th Street and Avalon Willoughby Square, an 825-unit residential building. In a joint venture with the Board of Education, he also led the planning and rezoning of a full city block located at 96th Street and Second Avenue comprised of a 63-story residential tower with over 900 apartment homes.

Prior to joining Avalon Bay, Mr. Piazzola was Vice President for Lincoln Property Group, responsible   for identifying, underwriting, and acquiring development residential projects in the New York City area. Mr. Piazzola was responsible for assembling and overseeing the design and development of a 22-story condominium project on West 55th Street and a 21-story luxury condominium project on East 85th Street at Second Avenue.   

Previously, Mr. Piazzola was the Executive Vice President of the Clarett Group, where he assembled and developed several high rise residential buildings in Manhattan including the Post Toscana at east 89th Street and First Avenue, Sky House at East 29th Street and Madison, The Opus at 107th Street and Broadway, Place 57 at 207 East 57th Street and Post Luminaria at 23rd Street and First Avenue. 

Prior to his residential development experience, Marty was Vice President of Park Tower Realty responsible for acquiring, financing, leasing and development of a   portfolio of properties in metropolitan Washington DC, including a 1.6 million square foot office development and a 1,200-acre multi-use development project with IBM.

Mr. Piazzola earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting at the State University of New York at Binghamton, certified as a CPA and earned an MBA in Finance from New York University. He is currently a Member of the Board of Governors of the Real estate Board of New York, a Board Member of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District, as well as a Board Member of LIBI.
